CLOTHING by Isabel

Hey guys. Since I need an excuse to not do my homework, I’ll answer your questions right now. :D

1. I think Swedish clothes are pretty fashionable if you compare to the rest of the world. I’d say it’s more elegant and tidy than (for example) the German, who’s clearly stuck in the Spice Girls-era.

2. Magazines, commercials and most of all Internet. Swedish girls are famous for their fashion blogs, and even make blogging for a living. When they mention a garment it gets sold out the next day. So I think fashion blogs are the major source of inspiration!

3. Not very. My style is very personal, and mixed. One day I have a cute dress and the next I wear a track jacket from Adidas. So I’d say I’m not very fashionable, more messed up! It’s really hard to explain my style of clothing, but if I’d try I’d say something like… Cute + hardcore? haha

4. I just came home from school, and today I’m wearing a grey embroidered blouse, a black skirt, black tights, a black cardigan, high black boots with “rivets”, a black leather jacket and a big black knitted scarf. I felt really pretty today (hehehe) and I could really wear something similar on a party. The only difference would probably be that you often show some more skin at a party, and do your make up much more fancy ;P

5. No, not as far as I’m concerned. We kind of left that in the 90’s when Mel C no longer was a role model. Today I think it’s more about having a sexy look, including high heels and short skirts, than the sporty flats from Nike.

6. I LOVE TATTOOS! And yes, it’s a trend. In different circle of friends the different tattoos occur. It’s mostly related to music, I’d say. The friends I’ve got that are techno-freaks have tribals and other tacky stuff… I don’t like that at all, haha. And the people I know that listens to rock and such have tattoos in old rockabilly style. But let me remind you that these are just my friends that I’m talking about, and not “the general Swede”. I doubt that there are as many tattooed girls as boys, but there are some. The music and life style is depending here, I think. Tattoos and piercings goes along with certain styles. Piercings on the other hand is getting more popular now. The nipple piercing is probably the most common (after the ears, of course). The labret is also very popular. The piercings indicates your style as well. “The popular” group of girls go for navel and now nipple, the trance-guys have their eyebrows pierced, and the people who have facial piercings are just a bit more edgy than everybody else, and I really like that. Well, that was a long answer, and I suggest that you take this with a pinch of salt ;) It’s just what I think, and I can assure you that someone will disagree with me.

7. It’s important to some. The fashionistas often wears clothes by label, but it demands that you have a good economy. A lot of people go 50/50, and mix brands with non-brands.


Haha, it was seriousley the longest text I've ever written on a blog, and I can assure you that my classmates will mock me tomorrow. I hope this will help you out a bit.
